A Step Forward

Here's to the death of the House Bill. May all its kindred be even shorter-lived. Praise the Lord who answered our prayers.

Oh tell again in every land
How mighty is the sovereign hand
That works a righteous will!
Break forth in song, who once did weep;
Draw strength anew, whose sighs were deep,
To know He listens still.

How mighty—yet how low He bends
And all-receiving ears He lends
To creatures wrought of dust!
Renew your hopes, cease not to pray;
Before Him every sorrow lay;
His ways are right and just.

For He to whom revenge belongs
Will not forget the wicked wrongs
That cause His children pain;
He shares our grief to see destroyed
His image; and no prayer is void
Within His will, nor vain.

Then fight, prayer-soldiers, and rejoice
To know God even heeds our voice—
The battle is not done!
Remember how He heard us here;
Take heart, be strong and of good cheer;
The Kingdom shall be won.
